Roka Akor
Roka Akor is a Japanese sushi, seafood and steakhouse with two locations in the Chicago area and also in Scottsdale and San Francisco. Our server was quick and upbeat and the dining room mood was lively with a great sound level and good lighting. We were seated promptly at 6:30 p.m. and left at 8:40 p.m.
It was the first time my oldest son ordered omakase, so it was great for him to be in a fun environment and not have dinner be so serious. My daughter tried lamb for the first time and couldn’t stop talking about the flavors and how the fat was full of flavor. My youngest still prefers rib eye steak the way I marinate and grill it at home and likes my mom’s version even better.
I’ll post the a la carte items first followed by photos of the “Decadent Omakase” so you can get an idea of each style of dining in its entirety. Many of the items on the omakase menu are available on the regular menu. Our server didn’t miss a beat all night. Since we had two different types of dining at the same table, some of our dishes were staggered. He brought out clean settings for the entire table whenever two of us didn’t have something to nibble on just in case anyone was willing to share. 😉
