This was my first trip to upstate New York and I was surprised how much it reminded me of Northern California and parts of Colorado. It’s mountainous, full of breathtaking views, and should you go, know that you won’t have GPS data or a phone signal (depending on your carrier) for parts of your drive from Albany airport to Lake Placid.

My first stop was one of several gas stations which added 2 hours to my 2 1/2 commute. The warning light kept flashing that my tire was low, so I kept stopping to check the air pressure. This is when I realized that can change a tire but didn’t know how to read an air gauge.
I’m not sure why I get excited whenever I see a logging truck, but I do. Even when I lived in Northern CA and Seattle, WA, I saw them quite often on weekend trips. I have tried to analyze myself and can’t figure it out but the feeling is still there whenever I see one. What does this mean?
I arrived at the first location for what was going to be a three-night, three-hotels work assignment, accompanying my friend who is a luxury travel writer.

The grand dining room design and decor confirmed we were in the woods. No matter how high the ceilings, and how big the room, it always feels cozy in this type of setting.

I Love Ketchup
I put ketchup on my steak, my hot dogs, my scrambled eggs, and leftover spaghetti. I could attempt to defend myself and tell you how entire Asian countries and some European areas put tomato-base sauce on their hot dogs. I could tell you how there are thousands of Filipinos that put a sweet ketchup in their spaghetti, not just my mom and my aunts. But I will just say, this is how I’ve always eaten these foods and I love them that way.
