NoMi Kitchen
Fresh wasabi is something I don’t see often in Chicago. Roka Akor was a lovely recent dinner where I had it. I was looking for more sushi spots that have fresh wasabi and are open for lunch, which is also hard to find. I saw that NoMI Kitchen had fresh wasabi so I decided to give it them a try.
The space at NoMI is light, airy and elegant and the views can’t be beat. The service was friendly and relaxed. Ed Sura (formerly of Perennial Virant and Graham Elliot) took over as Executive Chef in the summer of 2016. Pastry chef George Mosko (formerly of North Pond, Bouchon and French Laundry) has been at NoMI since 2015.
We ended up trying not only sushi but a few items from the lunch menu. Once I went through my photos, I realized we really had two lunches in one sitting. I’m glad I can always count on my dining partner in crime, Beth L, who is always happy to partake in ordering triple than what we had originally planned.
