San Diego | La Jolla

We took advantage of the two days off from school and went to visit three San Diego colleges. We arrived at our hotel at 10:30pm then had three mornings in a row of tours, keeping the rest of our days and nights free.

After browsing about 45 hotels online (it’s revisiting the final 5 that drive you crazy), La Jolla Cove Hotel and Suites won me over. We were directly across the street from the beach and could walk to the shops and restaurants. We had free wifi, on-site parking and breakfast included. In addition, the “room” was really two bedrooms and two bathrooms with a kitchenette, living room and dining area. The price was great and I liked that it was located in La Jolla not San Diego.

You might recognize the Universtiy of California’s Geisel (Dr. Suess) Library from the end of the film, Inception.

Emerald Chinese Cuisine – It’s always incredible to meet someone in person that could have only happened because of social networking. I was so excited to have lunch with my a friend from high school and her husband for dim sum lunch.

Extraordinary Desserts – My daughter wanted to go to Donut Bar but they were closed so my friend’s husband told us about a bakery known for their flower-topped pastries.

I’m not one of those bird people, but I do find them interesting when one shows personality, like this one that was attached to a bag that previously held french fries and stopped traffic to play with the bag in the middle of the intersection. This one had people standing all around it taking photos and video and people in cars laughing trying to drive around the bird.
