Wendella Boat Tour
I never get tired of going on a Chicago architectural boat tour. There are many great tour companies to choose from, but out of nostalgia from taking classes at the Chicago Art Institute of Chicago, the Wendella Architectural Tour is my favorite.
Two of my instructors (a married couple) took us out a few times so we could learn to draw quickly. I’m not the greatest artist in the world, but I used to sketch these pretty cool, stylized drawings with a black ink roller pen using intricate but fast, sweeping hatch marks. During this creative time in my life, I often sat at lunch, or on a bench or stoop and drew buildings. I had two of those black pens and when they finally ran out of ink, I was never able to draw in that style again even though I tried with other pens.
London House
London House, a luxury hotel, had opened three days before this tour so we went upstairs to get a quick glimpse.
